In 2008 the Festival received 35 applicants for the 15 spots of this coveted program. This past December over 500 applications were received for the 15 coveted spots. The focus of the program is to prepare today’s young artists for a professional opera career in the 21st Century. Audiences will have an opportunity to see these amazingly talented young artists perform scenes from famous operas, arias with the Festival Symphony Orchestra, with the Opera Children’s Chorus and in master classes.

A completely new concept featuring food and beverages from Russia as well as romantic masterworks from Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky. Alexander Schimpf, Gold Medal Winner of the Cleveland International Piano Competition will perform the Piano Concerto No. 1 by Peter Tchaikovsky, followed by Igor Stravinsky's Firebird Suite.

Now in its fourth year, the Opera Children’s Chorus is a three-week, tuition-free program designed for children 7-16. The children receive instruction in voice, dance and drama by world-class professionals. Children from across the country including children from the New York Metropolitan Opera will participate in this summer’s program.
